Synopsis: Inspired by the life of Agata Mróz-Olszewska, a two time European Champion in women’s volleyball, More than Life begins, but does not end on
the volleyball court. Having battled with a bone-marrow disease since the age of seventeen, the audience encounters Agata (Olga Bołądz) just as she reaches the point when a bone marrow transplant is her only hope for survival. Refusing to stop living as she waits for a second chance at life, Agata meets, falls in love, and marries Jacek Olszewski (Michał Żebrowski); soon thereafter, she becomes pregnant with their child. Against the advice of a medical majority and initially the wishes of her husband, she decides to put her bone marrow transplant on hold until she can deliver the baby. While the outcome of Anna Plutecka-Mesjasz’s debut feature film will not surprise those familiar with Agata’s story, Lose to Win is an engaging exploration of the courage that living life to the fullest entails.
