Synopsis: Suicide Room traces the fall from social grace of Dominik (Jakub Gierszał), a handsome and entitled eighteen-year-old whose wealthy home environment, private school education and popularity among his peers hold the promise of a bright future. Right before graduation, however, a humiliating incident intensified by the pervasiveness of social media in Dominik’s social circles shakes the foundations of his life. As he looks for a way out of his suddenly uncomfortable reality, he meets a woman on the internet who introduces him to the virtual reality of a “suicide room”. Having found a way in, however, can he ever find his way out? Successfully combining traditional film techniques with 3D animation, Jan Komasa’s debut feature has met with critical acclaim, and received numerous nominations and awards throughout Polish and European Film Festival circuits, including two “Silver Lion” Awards (for Komasa’s film and its producers) at the 36th Gdynia Film Festival.
