Franz (2025), directed by acclaimed filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, presents a poetic and fragmented portrait of writer Franz Kafka, from his upbringing in Prague through his literary struggles and tragic final years in 1924.
Starring Idan Weiss as Kafka alongside Jenovéfa Boková (Milena Jesenská) and Sebastian Schwarz (Max Brod), the film navigates Kafka’s inner life, complex relationships, and existential doubts.
A Czech-Polish-German co-production, Franz premiered at TIFF 2025 and is Poland’s submission for the Best International Feature Film Oscar.
