Liliana Komorowska on her latest “Wajda & You”
Liliana Komorowska is a Polish filmmaker living in Montreal.
Komorowska began her career as a successful stage and television actress in her native Poland, before moving to the USA and Canada in the 1980s where she continued a successful acting career in film, television and theatre. She acted in the film War and Love (1985), starring Kyra Sedgwick, directed by Oscar winner Moshé Mizrahi. She also has acted in daytime television series such as Another World, One Life to Live and As the World Turns.
Komorowska is no stranger to Ekran. In 2017 she attended the 9th Toronto Film Festival to screen her poignant historical documentary Ojcu (which she co-directed with filmmaker Diana Skaya)
Recently, Komorowska sat down with the Polish talk show Halo Polonia to discuss her latest project Wajda and You, a documentary about the one of the most prominent filmmakers in Polish history.
To tell the story of Andrzej Wajda, through interviews she will use of memories of filmmakers and actors who have worked and personally remember the great director. She also talks about how her film speaks with esteemed American film director, Martin Scorsese and his impact on the story.
Komorowska will continue working on this film during the 43rd Polish Film Festival this year in Gdynia.
The busy filmmaker also speaks in the interview about another documentary she’s completed called Life Dance.
This film explores motherhood and immigration through Komorowska’s own family and experiences.
